“I am interested in how media play a role in new democracies like South Africa, and how citizens can use media themselves to mobilize and to spread information that accelerate the change to democracy. In my work package we will investigate how social movements and activists use media to mobilize support for their work, and how new technologies such as social media fit into more existing media architectures (e.g. newspapers and radio) to enable activists to contribute to the deepening of young democracies. I very much look forward to seeing  what we will find.”
